The Bird and the Window

I’ve been in my classroom all morning and have noticed a strange occurrence. A hummingbird flies up to my windows, sees its’ reflection and keep banging its’ little head against my windows in an attempt to get in or touch the imaginary bird that is itself. I have numerous smudge marks to prove it- Is that analogous to life or what~

It’s been a sporadic year of posts; real world overtook the virtual one. Not much music on Ryan’s music, I have a feeling that will be changing soon. Got some things to write some music about; my wife, our church family, the business of life, a dog named Tess. I met one of my biggest musical influences this spring. I had the chance to ask Michael W Smith a few questions at my parent’s church in Florida. Very surreal experience; kind of like having one minute with a relative who’s written thousands of letters over a lifetime, too quick, but satisfactory- At one moment during the conversation with several who had gathered before the concert, he stated that he is “constantly reinventing himself.” I think most of us would agree that he doesn’t need too, not sure why he’s thought that over the years but it has shown in his music. I still love the Michael W Smith at the piano; how his career started. “I 2 Eye”, “Go West” “I’ll Lead you Home” Was nice to share that experience with Kristen and my parents.

Attending Martin’s Mennonite Church, a small body about five minutes from where we live; thoroughly enjoying the rich diversity there and the shared experiences of faith. Kristen and I both enjoy helping out with the music occasionally.

I keep busy with Master’s work in Biology and teaching. I coach the sprinters at Northwestern. I keep the gas stations in business driving the Jeep on rt. 30 every day from Orrville to Lattisburg. I doubt that they need my business to stay afloat.

That’s all for now; I suppose I could join facebook and twitter and be connected to everyone all at once but that would be overwhelming, not ready for that.

I’m learning that sometimes the more I say, the less I’m really heard, and that’s o.k (thanks Elton)

Anticipating the new season of “The Office” this thursday! And even though I’ve enjoyed coaching high school football this season, I am anticipating the month of November when I finally get my life back.
